London Terrorist Plot

Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Paul Stevenson makes a statement outside Scotland Yard in London, 10 August 2006. Police said that a foiled plot to blow up aircraft flying from Britain to the United States was "an attempt to commit mass murder on an unimaginable scale". Stephenson told in a news conference that officers were confident the operation, which saw 21 people arrested, had disrupted a bid to cause "untold death and destruction".
